Title: a book titled 'Thiefcraft'
When considering thieves, most people think of sneaking stealthily about,
picking pockets or ambushing merchants. However, many thieves are
industrious makers of things.
Poison is the primary craft of thieves. Poisons can be brewed from spell
components, herbs and even food. Poisons can range from simple toxins for
coating weapons to toxic gasses to advanced poisons that disorient,
suffocate or weaken defenses. Antidotes can also be brewed, and reduced to
powder for later use.
Thieves can also learn to build grenades, using specific recipes for a
variety of effects. Smoke, flashes, toxic gas, deadly shrapnel and
incendiary bombs are among the explosives that can be crafted by thieves.
Thieves are known for crafting traps. The simplest are snares and alarms
made from materials on hand. More advanced traps that can cause signifcant
damage can be made, and there are rumors of traps that incorporate
explosives or even magic.
There are more than a few legendary blades that are said to have been
invented by thieves. One such weapon was known as the day and night dagger.
With a blade of highest quality forged from ebon mithril attached to a
zebrawood handle, with hilts set with an onyx cabochon, these weapons are
said to bend light, helping to shield their wielders' from sight. These
blades were said to be especially deadly to creatures with human blood.
