Title: a book titled "Storm Over Coyote Canyon"
You flip to a random page in book two of the Nocturne Saga:
Roxie sat on the edge of a cliff overlooking Coyote Canyon, the wind wildly
tossing her chocolate-colored hair as her emerald eyes watched the growing
storm. The world around her was slowly turning grey and black, heedless
against the rising sun.
She heard a sound to her left and jumped for a mere moment before a pair of
lips brushed against hers like a forbidden whisper. Roxy looked up and into
the eyes the man who had kissed her, "Conall! It's you! You scared me to
death! I thought I was alone upon this ridge."
Conall pushed his dark mane back out of his eyes as he sat down beside
Roxie. His predatory gaze swept over Roxie before speaking, "You are never
alone. I am always there. Hunting, seeking to touch you once more."
Roxie shivered at these words and her eyes went wide with fear or
excitement, perhaps both. "I cannot deny, I desire the beast within you.
The wolf, it frightens me, but with every touch I know that I could be
yours. Yet, this cannot be. I cannot let it be. I belong to Count
Crimson and I know he will return to claim me. Nothing will stop him from
making me his bride.
Conall's face became grim but resolute, "If he loved you as I do. He would
have never left you alone. So many cold nights. So many empty promises."
A sly smile fell upon his face as he continued, "Do I not warm your heart,
your soul, and your bed? Count Crimson is a fool to leave such a treasure
unguarded."
Roxie sighed, "I do love you Conall but I must marry Count Crimson. I made
a promise to him, and I keep my promises."
Conall growled, his eyes growing as dark as the coming storm, "And what of
the promises that you made me that night beneath the stars here in Coyote
Canyon? I will not give up. You are destined to be my mate. You will belong
to me and no other. Say it, Roxie."
She trembled beneath Conall's gaze, "I belong to you."
And Conall's lips fell upon Roxie's, claiming hers as the first flash of
lighting lit up the canyon and the following thunder echoed like the
beating of their hearts.
