Title: a dirty grey tome

The Ash mountains contain many hidden and unexplored caverns, full of both
wonders and dangers.  It is said that a race of little men live hidden
inside the nearest mountain, but they are content never to leave it,
focusing their energy on improving their own society through technology
rather than exploration and expansion.

It is also said, but only in hushed whispers, that a fearsome red beast
also makes the inner mountain its home, and has built a system of caverns
containing sentinels with great power over the elements.  Each sentinel has
its own favorite prey, and they split parties up so each can destroy its
chosen victims.  These strange creatures all serve a common master though,
whose terrible powers of destruction are equal only to the rewards to he
who defeats it.
