Title: a damaged journal

The name "Durthang of Moria" is written in blocky letters on the inner
cover of the journal. It unfortunately has fallen open amid ink spilled
from the desk in whatever tumult upended the room, and much of its contents
are now illegible.

Of what can be read, there are snatches of Durthang's journey from the
mainland of Atmir to the island Archais through the portal in Ralnoth. One
page bears a drawing of a beautiful fully-enclosed helm made in the
likeness of a dwarven man's face, complete with a metallic beard. It
mentions he had dealings with the White Knights of Kordan, and that he
forged something for them.

The script becomes more erratic as the journal continues. There are a
number of pages covered with arcane formulae and runic diagrams. There are
several pages devoted to the anatomy of humanod bodies, and several
drawings of amorphous, spidery creatures with a dark spot at their center.
The penultimate pages, which are largely intact, are rambling discourses
about the the interactions of elemental spirits with the material world,
and their use in the creation of the "perfect construct".

The final entry is a lengthy, profanity-laden diatribe about gnomes.
