but the view from across the ballroom was slightly obscured. Roxie craned
her neck looking for this mysterious count that had set the whole room a
titter. She muttered softly to herself, "This is ridiculous Roxie, he's
just a man, Roxie. He's a rich and supposedly handsome man but, still just
a man."

"Supposedly handsome, huh?" crooned a voice near her left ear. Roxie
jumped at the sudden voice.

She had been alone on this side of the ballroom but a moment ago. She
turned to look into the face of a man that might have been a god or a
fallen angel. He had golden curly locks that fell to his shoulders and the
deepest blue eyes she had ever seen. He was at least six feet tall,
towering over her tiny frame. His frock coat of burgundy was the best
tailored she had ever seen. His breeches were as brown as a doe's hide and
really left nothing to hide.

Roxie blushed, "Count Crimson, I presume?"

The Count took a bow, "Guilty as charged, Count Kristoff Crimson of
Kordan."

Roxie smiled before curtsying, "Roxanne Rose. Roxie to my friends."

"A lovely name for a lovely lady." replied the Count, smiling.

"Well I thank you for that. But not for eavesdropping on me. That is not
very gentlemanly of you, sir." remarked Roxie

"Whoever said I was a gentleman? I must find this person and prove them
wrong," replied the Count.

Roxie raised an eyebrow, "You sir are nothing like I imagined. A complete
cad. So arrogant. So superior."

The Count smiled deeper, "Admit it. You didn't want me to be some stuffed
shirt. You wanted me to be wicked. I get the feeling you like more sinful
types of things." The Count's gaze fell appraisingly over Roxie's low cut
gown of ruby velvet.

Roxie laughed before smiling herself, "I suppose you're right. So shall we
continue our evening somewhere other than surrounded by these boring
socialites? "

The Count grinned deep, "Yes, follow me. I know a quiet place where we can
talk....or at least use our lips for something enjoyable." Roxie laughed
again before taking the Count's arm and the pair strolled out into the
garden.
