The flames raged
As the girl ran
Into the night
Scared and alone
The flames raged
As the girl shivered 
Beneath the dark sky
Tears glittering upon her cheeks
The flames raged
As the dagger cut
Red locks which fell like rain
Turning beauty into ordinary
The flames raged
Inside the girl
As she grew in stature
And in power
The flames raged
As the crowd watched
The now woman
Perform her magic
The flames raged
 In the hearth
As the man walked in
And met the woman's eyes
The flames raged
Inside two hearts
As days flew by
Love growing like vines
The flames raged
As the beast attacked
And the pair fought
Their futures unsure
The flames raged
A great foe vanquished 
At long last
Dawn after the longest night
The flames raged
Their longing finally expressed
True love freely given
A lifetime to burn together
