She looks fairly young and fresh. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Personality ----------------------------------------------------- At her core, she's an old soul cloaked in perpetual wide-eyed youth. Whenever she discovers a new wilderness bloom or encounters an animal she's never seen before, her face lights up with unrestrained delight. She'll impulsively crouch down to patiently observe the creature's behaviors or stroke the delicate petals with a tenderness bordering on maternal instinct. This frequently leads her to make peculiar choices that seem erratic to outside observers. One day she might wake up and suddenly decide to spend the entire morning frolicking barefoot through a sunlit meadow while giggling to herself. The next she could stubbornly sit unmoving for hours, enraptured by a tiny stream's babbling cadence and idly swirling the waters with her fingertips. Beneath her exterior, however, exists a well of profound loneliness and latent melancholy that few ever glimpse. Sylva's origins left her feeling unmoored, perpetually grasping for a sense of belonging that never quite takes root. When these depressive periods descent, she tends to keep the dolor tightly bottled up, unwilling to burden others with her emotions. She merely retreats inward, withdrawing from the world. Sometimes she recalls the comforting embrace of slender arms holding her close, rocking her gently amid a soothing melody. Other times it's the faint linger of damp earth and floral fragrances. But just as quickly as those warm memories surface, they're drowned out by darker flashes. Deep thunderous booms that seemed to shake her entire being. Streaks of blinding emerald light lancing across a pitch black sky. The taste of acrid smoke and...something else, metallic and unsettling, coating her tongue. A peaceful abyss that inevitably gives way to Sylva's next prolonged memory: awaking cradled in the lap of an elderly woman with kind eyes. This turn in her recollections is the closest thing to a childhood she can clearly recollect. The woman's name was Mariah, the aged matriarch of a remote woodland village. According to her, Sylva was discovered as a babe amid a smoldering copse just beyond the settlement's outskirts, naked and unconscious amidst the scorched underbrush. The only possession she had was a radiant emerald gemstone locket, tightly clutched in her tiny fist. To the simple villagers, it seemed a miracle that such a precious infant survived whatever terrible calamity had befallen that charred glade. So they took Sylva in as an orphan, allowing Mariah to care for and raise her.
