Rules Section 13 - Rules During Special Events

Rule 13.1 - Introduction Every so often, we host system events for a change of pace. These special events can be great and wondrous things, but they also offer special opportunities for griefing and general stupidity. Therefore, there are additional things to be aware of during events. This section gives an overview of the most common special rules for events.
Rule 13.2 - Informational - bug reporting convention Even the most thoroughly checked event areas are going to be more rough and buggy than more common zones, for no other reason than event areas just don't get the kind of testing time that areas which are run every day do. This isn't because we don't test event areas - it's because debugging areas is hard and takes a very long time. Because of this, it's basically polite convention that players do their best even if the area is buggy. In exchange for this, builders will try to fix the worst of the problems, to the extent that they can given the time available while the event is running. Keep in mind that running an event is extremely stressful for a builder, and that fixing a bug while an area is running is often pretty difficult. Builders won't always be able to immediately fix bugs that you report, so don't pester them repeatedly.
Rule 13.3 - Informational - bug/exploit reporting Bugs and exploits must be reported in a timely manner. Since we often do things during events that are outside the realm of normal gameplay, bugs can and do crop up. Reporting them is extremely important during events to keep things running smoothly. Failure to do so may be considered cheating, and cheating can get you banned until the event is over, result in your event rewards being revoked, or worse.
Rule 13.4 - Thou shalt not be a dumbass when dealing with gods Gods are very busy during events and have better things to do than deal with rulebreaking. Don't harass them, don't complain about trifling things, and do what they tell you if something goes wrong. Expect them to have less tolerance for shenanigans.
Rule 13.5 - High level characters should avoid newbie areas Some events have special newbie versions on the newbie islands. For these types of events, do not take a high level character into newbie areas to try out the newbie version. High level characters can easily damage the setup and flow of low level events. Newbies have a hard enough time with special events already. Don't make it worse by wiping out newbie event zones.
Rule 13.6 - Stay out of unopened event areas If you happen to find a way to get into one of the event areas early, the correct action to take is to tell the builder how you got there and leave the zone. If you insist on staying in unopened event areas, you'll probably be banned from participating in the event.
Rule 13.7 - Thou shalt not in general grief other players Anything that interferes with another player's ability to enjoy an event as intended could be considered a violation of this rule. This can include making statements about events that discourage participation. Also, events are limited in scope and time, therefore, they and their rewards can be considered an in-game resource, with all the rules pertaining to such applicable.
Rule 13.8 - Just because you can, doesn't mean you should! Gods work hard to make good events. Don't ruin their hard work. Use common sense.
