Alter Aeon Rules of Conduct

Rules Section 6 - Other Offenses

Rule 6.1 -
Introduction This section deals primarily with game interactions between players, that have more severe consequences than more minor offenses.
Rule 6.2 -
Thou shalt not multiplay. Ever. Multiplaying is no longer allowed here. Due to the way the game is set up, multiplaying is a far more severe balance problem than on most other muds. The only situation where you may have more than one character logged on is when swapping equipment. Idling multis are still considered multis. Even if your other character is idle, you may still not have it logged in. Linkdead multis are still considered multis. It is not acceptable to leave linkdead characters hanging around to regen mana to help your other characters. Helping includes summoning and healing. You may not summon a multi to allow it to get a waypoint. To repeat: THE ONLY CASE WHERE YOU MAY HAVE A MULTI LOGGED IN IS TO SWAP EQUIPMENT. When swapping equipment, log in your multi, make your trades, and log your multi off. Do not drop link, do not leave it idle, and don't use it to cast spells on your other characters. If you are multiplaying to gain exp, all of your multiplayed characters will be stripped of experience and possibly any stats you may have gained. You may also have characters deleted, starting with the most powerful.
Rule 6.3 -
Thou shalt not screw with recall sites This takes many forms, only some of which are listed below: 1) Don't bring aggressive monsters to recall where they might kill someone who wasn't expecting, for example, a greater pit fiend to wail on them while asleep. Note that bringing a monster to recall implies any particular mechanism that might be used to coax a monster into a recall site that it otherwise would not be able to enter. This includes putting monsters in bags, summoning them, charming them, and dropping them into recall from above. 2) Don't cast annoyance spells in recall sites. This includes casting wall of ice on all the exits so no-one can leave, as well as casting chimes or squeaky floors all over the general area. Casting darken so no-one can see anything is probably also a bad idea. 3) Don't cause people to die in recall, unless they were already dying, and it's not your fault, and you feel like being a bastard. For example, don't attack the guardian in Ralnoth's Temple of Dentin, then confuse him so he attacks other players. 4) Don't spam recall. This includes cluttering recall with zombies or useless objects. This also includes running a bot in recall (bots are not allowed in recall points, see the bot rules section.)
Rule 6.4 -
Thou shalt not loot the corpses of other players When you loot someone elses corpse, you are in effect stealing their gold and possibly their equipment (depending on the character.) This is illegal, and you MUST return anything taken from a corpse IMMEDIATELY upon request. Further, you MUST also actively attempt to return anything accidentally taken from a corpse. It is no defense to say "he never asked for it back".
Rule 6.5 -
Thou shalt not separate equipment from its rightful owner Traditionally, equipment dropped on the ground is fair game for all. Dropped equipment is equipment that you specifically drop, using the 'drop' command. Putting equipment on a table or in a bag on the ground also falls into this category. In short, the rightful owner of a piece of equipment remains the rightful owner until the equipment is dropped, sold, or actively given away. Here are a few other scenarios where the equipment or items may not be taken: Corpses Zapped equipment Disarmed weapons Corpse eq (after the corpse has been eaten) Equipment donated for the purposes of a corpse retrieval Equipment in a player's inventory Equipment worn by a player Equipment placed on a pet or golem Weightless containers purchased via donation Characters you happen to know the password to See also the informational entry regarding 'dropped equipment' in the 'miscellaneous' category.
Rule 6.6 -
Thou shalt respect the pets of other players Pets come in many different flavors, including zombies and golems. Creatures that are simply charmed or possessed using ordinary spells are generally not considered pets, but there can be exceptions to this - please use good judgement when deciding to attack a charmed creature. In general, pets should be left alone and left under the control of the owner whenever possible. Any equipment placed on the pet is not fair game, and if the pet dies the equipment may only be claimed by the owner. If the pet is a direct, immediate threat to you or to other players in the surrounding area, you may destroy, move, or render helpless the pet. If you determine that a pet is a direct threat, please try to capture logfiles and be prepared to explain your actions if the admin is asked to intervene by the pet owner.
Rule 6.7 -
Thou shalt clean up after and pay attention to thy pets Just because others are supposed to respect your pets, this doesn't mean that you can safely leave two dozen of them in the Temple of Dentin recall while you log off and go to sleep. Don't leave your pets in public areas for extended periods of time without supervision. Pets that are abandoned in a public area, or abandoned pets that become a public nuisance, may be moved or destroyed by the admin staff. Note that this does not mean nuisance pets may be moved or destroyed by other players. If you as a player have an issue with a nuisance pet, please inform the staff so that they can take care of it. If you take action on your own, you run the risk of running afoul of the other rules regarding pets.
