These strips of heavy black bark have an unpleasant, musty odor. Blackwood
bark is used in folk medicine treat gangrene, ringworm, toenail fungus,
athlete's foot and various other skin conditions. It is considered to
unwholesome to take internally and is usually applied as a salve or
poultice.
