The candle's blue flame emanates coldness like a normal flame emanates heat. 
The flame does little to illuminate the surrounding area, and almost seems to
make it darker.  Putting your hand close to the flame, you find that the
coldness would burn you as badly, if not worse, than the heat from a natural
flame.
