Item description:

A disc of pearly, polished kraken shell, the rough outer coating rubbed
away to reveal the shining, metallic luster beneath.  The disc is inscribed
with several warding runes against magic and spells.  A dozen other shards
of kraken shell have been linked together with lengths of sinew to form a
chain so it can be worn around your neck.
