Item description:

This oval shield has been formed of a strange, flame-red alloy, braced with
silvery-white bands and embedded with an intricate pattern of gemstones.  A
trio of gems flash at its center--a triangle formed of dark green discs of
moldavite and green bloodstone flecked with deep red, topped by a flat
point of pale tourmalated quartz shot through with glittering black
streaks.  A disc formed of two gemstones balances on the point of the
triangle, marred only by the indentation carved into its edge for the point
of the quartz to rest in.  The disc itself is composed of polished smoky
quartz, a display of smoke greys and shadows on a slightly paler backdrop,
and iridescent, pale-grey labradorite, marked by cool blue bands. 
Bracketing the disc are smooth curves of tiger iron, their banded shades of
dark red, dusky brown and shimmering black accenting and contrasting the
blue-grey hued circle in their center.  Bands of obsidian carved with tiny,
interlaced protection runes form the sides of the triangle, intersecting
with the gleaming black onyx brackets which frame the small corner discs. 
At the triangle's center is a single starkly angular rune inlaid into the
shield with dark, silver-tinged tectite, the stone formed from the stuff of
falling stars, its glassy surface glinting with barely-suppressed power. 
Its light radiates across the rest of the shield, filling it with a hint of
the furious burning in the hearts of the stars.
