This tome appears to be centuries old for the cover is tattered and the
pages within have all yellowed with age. It is slightly larger than your
average sized book, almost  as if it was made with a larger person in mind.
Flipping through the tome one finds that most of the writing has faded and
what is left has been written in a very old and strange script.

One of the few things that you do understand are several sets of geometric
diagrams, with a couple of them similar to common ward stone patterns.  The
complexity of the diagrams is obvious, even in the faded, unreadable state,
and it makes you wonder what exactly wards like this would be used for.
