Item description:

These are curved legplates designed to cover the knee and shin.  They are
made of balsa wood but are coated with a thin layer of red crystalline
gemstone commonly called chrysolite.  The shin guards are rounds at the
sides and bottom, but the top comes to a point just above knee.  The layers
of chrysolite are formed by irregular strips that have been cut and fitted
together to form a single piece.  They are well-crafted, as the seams are
difficult to spot despite the reflective properties of the gemstone. 
Triangles have been carved into the edges of the legplates around the
chrysolite portions.  Each legplate is held in place by two leather belts
run through the top and bottom of the piece.
