Item description:

This tall, thick grimoire looks incredibly old.  Its leather-bound cover is
worn to the point of there being holes in it.  The pages therein seem
barely able to hold onto the spine, and they are torn and frayed around the
edges.  The writing on the pages is faded and smudged in many places.  The
contents appear to relate to the arcane arts, but so much has been damaged
that it is difficult to make out anything useful by reading the grimoire.
