Medlars are spherical, reddish-brown fruits with a fine coat of hair.  Five
stringy sepals encompass around each fruit.  No fruit forms a perfect
sphere, as the flesh of each pome tends to cling to the sepals on the
bottom, forming a hollowed out portion.  They smell vaguely like pears.
