This rough-hewn stone appears to be made of many pebbles and larger cobbles
of rock, bound together in a common matrix. When cut, the stone follows
cracks across the grains of its constituent rocks, rathering than crumbling
and releasing the individual stones. This means it can be cut and polished
in attractively mottled slabs.
