Item description:

A long, wooden staff, made out of some hardwood.  It has been coated with a
varnish of some sort to help preserve it, but over the many apparent years of
use holes have been worn in the protective covering.  There are heavily set
runes in the staff from top to bottom, lines of different color and texture
from the rest of the wood.  In the places where the staff is heavily worn,
the lines of the runes still show through, as though the runes were
interwoven with the very heart of the wood the staff is made from.  Knots and
other abnormalities riddle the staff, making it twisted and gnarled in many
odd directions.
