This girth seems to have been assembled from a single bone.  As you inspect
the girth more carefully, you notice that flesh seems to be trying to
regenerate, but some kind of magic prevents it from doing so.  After a few
seconds of thought, you realize that this is the hip of a troll.  Somehow a
powerful necromancer has kept the thing alive enough to want to regenerate,
but was able to redirect it towards its new 'owner'.
