Item description:

A long shaft of very dark wood with a axe-like blade attached near the end.
The blade is not thick but it does cover the last third of the spear and
curves over the top so it can be swung or thrust at an opponent.  An
undecipherable enscription of flowing letters or maybe runes can be seen
covering the side of the blade.  Decorative perhaps, but this weapon could
be used to cause great damage.
