 The scroll bears hastily scrawled writing across the outside of it:  'The
darkness eats upon my heart, and I fail to find the will to continue... I
have managed to unlock the secrets of this keep, but they lead only deeper
into the foul heart of this place. A locket have I, like a missive to a
lost love across the planes, to bring me to an amulet that pains my soul.
A threat, a sudden threat uncovered, but i rent its limbs! And used it to
find my way.... '

The writing just sort of dies away across the vellum of the scroll's body,
as if the writer just faded away as he wrote.
