This big shield looks actually kinda weak, and seems a little to light to
be effective.  Large gashes have razed the surface in several places, but
the shield itself is still intact.  The large red cross painted on white
must have been the symbol of some noble knight, but you doubt that he
survived the onslaught of whatever made those scratches.
