You brush some dirt off of the wooden flute and examine it closely.  
About 5 inches long, it produces a high-piched set of notes.  The notes
change depending upon which, if any, holes you cover along the side of the
flute while blowing into it.  Any note you hit seems to be clear even though
you have not practiced playing on this flute very much.  The high, clear
notes hang in the air after you play them, and you only gradually realize
they are gone, though you never heard the notes fade away.
