Characters in the world of Alter Aeon can gain levels in all of the available character classes, and each class adds new spells and skills that can be used. Many of these spells and skills complement each other, allowing the classes to seamlessly work together.

A short description of each class is given below, with links to the spells and skills for each class and articles on how each class works.

Mages are primarily spellcasters, with strong magical abilities and poor physical attributes. They are able to cast powerful offensive spells and a good many utility spells even at low levels.

Druids are masters of nature, using magic to control terrain, change the weather, and use the air and earth to defend against or attack enemies. They can carve runes and use runic magic to enchant many different kinds of items, and brew salves and tinctures using herbs found in nature. Animals and plants are also subject to their control.
